The supplication must include praise for Allah Almighty, as Allah almighty loves when his servant praises him. This is a sort of worship too, otherwise, Allah is indispensable for his servants. It is narrated in both Sahihs from the hadith of Ibn Masoud, that Prophet PBUH says "nothing is loved by Allah more than the praise of His Ownself and it is because of this that He has praised Himself".
