Supplicating in a state of ritual purity<\/strong><\/p><p>It is recommended that the supplicant be in a state of purity and perform ablution (wudu). This is supported by the hadith of Ab\u016b M\u016bs\u0101, may Allah be pleased with him, reported in both *Sahih Muslim* and *Al-Bukhari*, in his account concerning his uncle Ab\u016b \u02bf\u0100mir, may Allah be pleased with him. Ab\u016b \u02bf\u0100mir instructed Ab\u016b M\u016bs\u0101 to ask the Prophet (PBUH) to supplicate for him. Ab\u016b M\u016bs\u0101 said: <\/p><p>\u201cThe Messenger of Allah (PBUH) called for water, performed ablution, then raised his hands and said: \u2018O Allah, forgive \u02bfUbayd Ab\u012b \u02bf\u0100mir,\u2019 until I could see the whiteness of his armpits.
